What is Rosin?

Rosin refers to a type of cannabis extract that is produced using a combination of heat and pressure to squeeze the resinous sap from the plant material. This method has gained popularity in recent years because it is a solventless technique, meaning it doesn’t involve the use of chemical solvents like butane or alcohol which are often used in other methods of extraction.

The process to create rosin involves taking cannabis flower, hash, or kief and wrapping it in a piece of parchment paper. This bundle is then placed between the heated plates of a rosin press, which applies pressure. The heat and pressure cause the resin to melt and be squeezed out of the plant material, which can then be collected and cooled into a solid form.

Rosin is appreciated for its potency, versatility, and the fact that it’s a relatively simple and safe method to create a concentrate at home with the proper equipment. The end product can vary in consistency from a sticky sap to a more solid, crumbly wax depending on the specific temperature, pressure, and timing used in the process.
