What is the difference between Cannabis Concentrates and Cannabis Extracts?
Cannabis Concentrates are products made by processing cannabis plants to keep only the most desirable compounds (primarily cannabinoids and terpenes), removing excess plant material and impurities. They can be created using mechanical methods, like sieving or pressing, or by using solvents like butane, propane, CO2 or alcohol. Some examples include Kief, hash and rosin.
Cannabis Extracts are a type of concentrate that is obtained specifically through a process using solvents to extract cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis plant material. They are produced using a variety of solvents, such as CO2, ethanol, or hydrocarbons(butane, propane). The solvent is then purged to ensure minimal residue in the final product. Examples include oils, tinctures, shatter, wax and live resin.
